What you can do next

  • Find support near you. RAINN can connect you with a sexual assault service provider in your area. They offer counseling, someone to go with you to the hospital or police, and help understanding your options. Find local support
  • Get medical care. If you were assaulted recently, a hospital can care for injuries and help prevent pregnancy and infections. You can get care without reporting to police.
  • Make a safety plan. If someone at home is hurting you, a hotline advocate can help you plan how to stay safer, whether you stay or leave. Learn about safety planning
  • Talk to a counselor. A counselor who understands trauma can help you heal at your own pace. Hotlines can point you to free or low-cost options.
  • Tell your story when you’re ready. There is no deadline. When you’re ready, you can share it here, anonymously.

Staying safe online

If someone might check your phone or computer, these steps can help keep your visit private.

  1. Leave fast if you need to. Tap Leave this site at the bottom of any page, or press Esc twice. You’ll go straight to a weather page.
  2. Use a private window. A private or incognito window doesn’t save the pages you visit. On iPhone Safari, tap the tabs button, then Private. In Chrome, open the menu and choose New Incognito tab.
  3. Clear your history afterward. If you didn’t use a private window, open your browser’s settings, go to History, and delete this site. Deleting only this site looks less unusual than clearing everything.
  4. Use an email only you can open. If you leave an email with your story, make sure no one else can read that inbox. A new free email account works well.
  5. Use a safer device if you’re worried. If you think your phone or computer is being watched, use a library computer or a trusted friend’s phone instead.
